Keep your child safe this summer with the Baby Swim Foundation's guide to being safe around swimming pools.

WATER

SUPERVISION

INFLATABLES

Water should be properly treated. Use the correct chemicals and store safely locked out of children's reach.

Make sure your child is supervised at all times.

Only use inflatable's & toys designed for swimming pool use. Be aware inflatable pools can become lopsided or damaged in severe weather.

Eat at least 30 minutes before swimming. Keep food & glass away from the pool. Never drink alcohol and then swim.

Do not keep or use electrical equipment near a pool. Stay out of the pool during thunderstorms.

Fence home swimming pools. Make sure it is at least 4 feet high with a secure gate where the latch is out of children's reach.

Children should wear water resistant sun cream, a hat & a t-shirt even on the dullest of days. Stay in the shade when not in the pool.

Learn CPR.

Teach your child basic water safety skills or enrol in a water safety class like the BSF Programme.
