Nervous Parent

I have been thinking about taking my little boy swimming for a while now. He is 6 months old and all my friends from my antenatal group go swimming together, however, I am really, really nervous. I can't swim at all, I don't want him to be like me but how can I possibly take him when I am petrified? I really feel like I am missing out with all my friends. By the way, I think this website is great.

Hi

We at the BSF are pleased that you like the web site and find it useful. Please let us know if you think we are missing anything and you would like more info on something.

Being nervous........

Most baby classes are held in swimming pools where you will not be out of your depth. Have a quiet word with the teacher and explain that you are not comfortable in the water. All swimming teachers are very supportive and they will help you to gain confidence and show you how to hold your baby in the water.

Be brave and enrole yourself yourself in swimming classes, so that as your baby gets older you will be able to enjoy swimming together.
